MS and Ethnicity webinar

Sharifa delivered a presentation at The MS and Ethnicity Spotlight Webinar which was organised by the MS Society. The event brought together people with MS and researchers to learn more about the MS Society’s Equity, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion strategy and current research studies on MS and ethnicity.

Sharifa presented the findings from the MS peer research study to the audience. She was joined by peer researcher Karen Chong, who shared her reflections on taking part in the project with the audience.

Karen spoke powerfully about what the experience meant to her, highlighting that being involved showed that lived experience really matters in research. In the Q&A session, attendees asked questions about the research process, including what challenges emerged along the way. Sharifa and Karen reflected on Sharifa on how the peer research required flexibility, openness, and time to build relationships but that these same aspects also made the process more rewarding and authentic.
